Advanced 3-D Imaging
What Is A CBCT Scan?
At New Meadows Dental, we are equipped with the latest technology. This includes a Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (Dental CBCT) machine that produces three-dimensional (3-D) images of teeth, jaw bone, jaw joints, and nerve pathways in a single scan.
It has a quicker motion compared to a traditional CT scan and with lower radiation. It has a huge diagnostic and therapeutic benefit uncovering more details from different angles and give precise tissue measurements that otherwise cannot be revealed using traditional (2-D) radiographs. This helps in many dental procedures particularly in inserting implants with greater accuracy and with less invasive surgery.
What are the benefits of a Dental CBCT scan?
-
Provides 3-D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve paths, and bone which is considerably more detailed than conventional two-dimensional dental x-rays.
-
Allows for more precise diagnosis and treatment planning. This is particularly useful in inserting implants with greater accuracy. There is no image distortion, the dimensions can be measure accurately on the 3-D image and any view or direction.
-
Simple and comfortable to take
Dental CBCT scans are commonly used to:
-
Evaluate the teeth, bone, jaw joints, and airway.
-
Place implants more predictably.
-
Risk assessment and planning for the removal of impacted wisdom teeth when they are close to the jaw nerve.
-
Complex root canal diagnosis and treatment
This is a great example of just how big a difference 3-D imaging makes!
